Towards Sustainable Growth

Since its founding in 1917, Nikon has sought the limitless potential of light, continually providing new value. In order to meet the expectations of society and our customers in the coming era, in our Medium-Term Management Plan we set out a company-wide policy for delivering integrated solutions encompassing end products, services and components, with the goal of “providing products and services optimized to meet our customer needs.” Through these efforts, we hope to be “a key technology solutions company in a global society where humans and machines co-create seamlessly” by 2030.
Nikon has been achieving steady progress in line with the Medium-Term Management Plan. On the other hand, there are still many challenges to overcome for further growth. We need to raise the capabilities of the Nikon Group to the next level through revenue and risk management at domestic and overseas investee companies and internal controls. To address these challenges, we have transitioned to a management structure led by Tokunari as President and COO, and myself as Chairman and CEO. Tokunari has driven company-wide strategies from a perspective beyond finance, while I have led the company in the field of technology. Leveraging our different backgrounds, the two of us will work hand-in-hand to achieve the goals of the Medium-Term Management Plan and beyond, towards sustainable growth.

Building a Solid Management Base

Nikon has defined “Vision 2030” and aims to further enhance its corporate value. Achieving sustainable growth requires building a solid management base. We will strengthen global governance, modernization of production plants, and promote digital transformation (DX). On the operational side, we will focus on our balance sheet and cash flow, and work to improve business portfolio management to optimize the capital allocation. Human capital is the most significant resource a company has. I want Nikon to be a company where each and every employee can experience personal and corporate growth at the same time, and to be an organization where employees can reach their full potential. By promoting diversity, equity and inclusion, I aim for a future in which talented individuals with diverse attributes, experiences and expertise around the world stimulate and inspire each other, leading to innovation. I will work together with our 20,000 employees around the world to achieve our Vision 2030 of becoming a key technology solutions company in a global society where humans and machines co-create seamlessly.

Muneaki Tokunari
